Firework

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that there’s still a chance for you
Cause there’s a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ’em what your worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you’re a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gunna leave ’em fallin’ down-own-own

You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you’re reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it’s time, you’ll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ’em what your worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you’re a firework
Come on slet your colors burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gunna leave ’em fallin’ down-own-own

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through

Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ’em what your worth
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you’re a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make ’em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gunna leave ’em goin “Oh, oh, oh!”

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

I heard this song after I decided I wanted to work abroad for a year. To get out of this small town and see the world, or parts of it. It seemed fitting.

This week is a recovery week in my half marathon training. Jewel and I did a 5km run this morning before work. The temperatures have been so unusually warm, but I’m not complaining. I dressed too warm and was soaked in sweat by the time we got back. The roads are slowly getting plowed so it was nice not to have to tread through deep messy snow.

For breakfast I added a couple spoons of Farro to my oatmeal. It gave it a nice chewy texture. I like eating different textures in one meal, it makes it interesting.

Can you see the Farro in this bite?

Lunch was a big salad with a blob of peanut sesame hummus, the last of my homemade crackers and a soft, doughy flax pita. It hit the spot.

Tonight I didn’t feel like cooking so leftovers it was. I had planned on roasting a butternut squash and cooking up some garlic shrimp, but when I got home I had no motivation. Possibly tomorrow, the leftovers were still good though.

I took this little one for a walk tonight, now I need to haul her bed upstairs so she can lay on it. She follows me upstairs and lies on the floor when she has a big soft bed downstairs. She’s so funny.
